Veggie Burger

2011-06-30 veggie burger 008I'm not going to sit here and be like, “I luuuuv veggie burgers more than anything in the whole world".” I’m not. I still love beef. I still love meat. Veggie burgers are, however, a nice change from the norm.
My issue with veggie burger recipes I’ve tried is that they tend to have a “mush factor” about them that I don’t care for. They have the consistency of mashed potatoes. You’re never going to fool anyone with that. What I liked about this recipe is that it wasn’t filled with potatoes. I mean, I love potatoes and wish my diet consisted solely of them, but for a burger, it was nice to see barley and tougher vegetables in the list of ingredients.

Japanese Udon Noodle Soup

4It’s kind of cool and rainy today in the OC (don’t call it the OC, it’ll make you sound lame. I sounded lame, didn’t I?). Southern California is usually sunny and 70. Today, chilly and rainy.

Basic Black Bean Soup

2Black bean soup is probably one of the easiest soups to make. It doesn’t require that much work at all. There aren’t even too many ingredients.
I know it’s July and pretty hot out (at least here in Southern California), but sometimes soup just feels right. This felt right. And tasted oh so good.

Happy Independence Day!
